Hope you’re all doing well! I’m back now with a new post on a subject that I feel very strongly about. Summer has been relentless, the heat has been stifling and of course that means that a girl’s gotta amp up her hydration game. Water is absolutely crucial for keeping your body healthy and skin moist. It helps to flush out toxins, thus keeping your skin clear and youthful-looking. Now, I’m lucky because I truly love the taste of water. Is that weird?? I think it’s the absolute most refreshing, clear-tasting drink on the planet. I think it has to do with the fact that I was never really into pop, even as a child; my parents always gave me water, and thus I grew to love it. I know that this is not the case for everyone, so I have some tips that will help you to drink more water and stay hydrated without JUST drinking water. Alright, here we go.
Tea – I love tea. David’s tea is literally my happy place. My mom often complains about how much tea I buy since it takes up so much room in our pantry. Oops. Anyways, tea has numerous health benefits depending on which type of tea you get, and it’s a great way to keep your body hydrated. My personal favourites are spearmint tea (GREAT for acne-prone skin), green tea, ginger tea and tulsi tea.
Fruit water – I love adding fruits into my water. Not only does it amp up your plain jane water, it’s amazing for your skin. It tastes great too, and you can get really creative with different combinations and such. I like lemon, lime, mint and strawberry. Strawberry and basil is an amazing combination as well.
Buy a pretty water container – as crazy as this sounds, it really works. If I have a sweet looking water bottle that I love, I’m way more likely to pull it out and drink more water. There are some gorgeous ones out on the market right now, from plastic ones, to the better for the planet glass ones. Buy one that you love!
Start your morning with tons of water – a lot of people struggle with remembering to drink water throughout the day, which is totally understandable as life can get busy and hectic. So why not get most of to over with in the morning? Drink two glasses of water in the morning before breakfast, or better yet, have a huge mug of warm lemon water. One, it’s amazing for your health and digestion, two, it really wakes you up, and three, you don’t have to worry as much throughout the day.
On that same note…
End you day with water – Not right before bed of course because that could disrupt your sleep, but an hour or so after your dinner, chug a glass or two. Or you can opt for some herbal tea too, which provides some added relaxation benefits.
Eat hydrating fruits and veggies – this is a great tip if you absolutely deplore water. Instead of drinking endless amount of liquid, why not try eating your way to hydration? I recommend cucumber, melon, celery, strawberries, and lettuce. Which leads to my last point…
Smoothies – I adore smoothies and they are without doubt one of the best ways to hydrate your body. If you make one with water, you’re getting the benefits of both the water as well as the fruits and veggies which will both work to keep you healthy and hydrated. There are endless amazing smoothie recipes on the internet, and I’ll even link my favourite one here.
And there you have it guys! I hope this was helpful. If you guys have any tips that I didn’t mention be sure to let me know in the comments as I would love to know! 🙂
